National Karate Champions

Congratulations to Melton Campus students, sisters Olivia and Charlotte, who both earned national championship titles at the Karate Australia Nationals in Hobart during the recent school holidays.

Both girls won their respective individual divisions: Charlotte, the Under 14 years, 52kg division and Olivia, the Cadet +61kg division.

The girls were also selected to compete in team events, a passionate display of state vs state, because of their excellent individual results.

The Under 14 girls team came away with silver medals, while the Cadet girls team won gold!

Olivia's win, combined with her win at the Australian Open in April, means she has qualified to represent Australia at the World Karate Federation Junior World Championships in Poland in October. She will complete an intensive training camp at the Australian Institute of Sport in Italy before taking to the Tatami against the best each country has to offer.
