Last Friday, our Year 12 Melton Elite Sports Academy students visited Bounce Inc at Essendon Fields.
During Term 3, students have been learning about Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) procedures, hazard identification, risk assessment, and risk control. This excursion gave them a great opportunity to apply their knowledge in an existing workplace.
We started the day with a presentation from Bella, one of Bounce Inc’s Team Leaders, who discussed the importance of upholding high WHS standards.
Bounce is classified as a high-risk environment and, as such, has a thorough process for reporting and documenting any WHS issues that arise.
Students were able to relate their knowledge of hazard identification, risk assessment, and control to a real-world environment.
After the presentation, students completed a walk-through of the venue, actively searching for any WHS issues (actual or potential) they could find before enjoying a bounce session. They used their newly applied knowledge to complete their VCE SAC on the WHS unit.
Below is a short video of highlights from the day.
